Altitude and oxygen
What the air is actually doing at height. Enter an altitude and read the pressure, the oxygen available and how much thinner the air has become.
Affects air density, not pressure.
Set the inputs, then work it out.
Air pressure--hPa
Share of sea level--%pressure
Inspired oxygen--mmHg, in the lung
Equivalent O₂--%as if at sea level
Air density--kg/m³
Density ratio--%of sea level
Water boils at--°C
Air pressure--kPa
Does this account for weather?
No. It gives the standard atmosphere for that height. Real pressure moves a few percent either side with weather, and more in a strong system.
Is the equivalent oxygen figure medically meaningful?
It is a useful translation, not a clinical number. Individual response to altitude varies enormously and the same height affects two people very differently.
