Heat stress and WBGT
Wet bulb globe temperature estimated from the readings you can actually get in the field.
Set the inputs, then work it out.
WBGT--°C, estimated
Wet bulb--°C
Dew point--°C
Heat index--°C, feels like
Globe temp--°C, estimated
WBGT in shade--°C, same air
Vapour pressure--hPa
Evaporative margin--°C wet bulb depression
Can this replace a WBGT meter?
No. Use it to plan and to sanity-check. Measure when it matters.
Why does wind make such a difference?
Moving air strips the saturated layer off the skin and lets fresh evaporation happen. In still air that layer sits there and the cooling rate collapses, which is why an enclosed space is far harder work than open ground with a breeze.
